What is Hypnotherapy?
The Subconcious
Imagine an iceberg. The consciousness is the prominent, the visible part. It is the much smaller part, about 20%, than the submerged part, the subconscious.
First of all, it is important to understand the difference between consciousness and subconsciousness, as well as the critical factor.
- Real mind
- Critical thinking
- Language
- Logic

Between the conscious and the subconscious lies the so-called critical factor, which prevents one instance from accessing the other. For example, a smoker is well aware of the dangers of smoking. His subconscious, however, associates it with positive feelings such as comfort or relaxation. The critical factor decides what new information is absorbed into our subconscious. It acts as a kind of gatekeeper. If we succeed in distracting this gatekeeper for a short moment, desired new information can be stored specifically in the subconscious. With the help of hypnosis it is possible to change these memories. Erroneous feelings and beliefs can be corrected and new ones established.
Our subconscious accommodates and controls the following:
- Central nervous system (respiration, digestion etc.)
- Emotions
- Beliefs
80%
These feelings and beliefs are deeply anchored in us. They are already formed in early childhood and massively influence our behaviour in the present.
The Hypnotic Trance
You know the feeling of trance because it is a state you experience almost every day. It is a state of deep relaxation, but one in which you are highly focused.
During a film, for example, you nibble away at the whole bag of crisps and then wonder why it is already empty. This is trance.
You are driving on the motorway and miss your exit, although your eyes have perceived the sign exactly. That too is a trance.
We do not work with suggestion hypnosis alone, but with cause-oriented hypnoanalysis, in which the origin of unwanted behaviour is uncovered.
It is incredible what you can achieve when you harness the power of the subconscious mind.
